My manager went ballistic when I was 3 minutes late to his meeting on my 2nd day of employment. He flew off the handle because I did not memorize where the conference rooms are at. I told him that they really should make it easier by providing maps, clearly indicating it in MS outlook rather than labeling a room "Tesla1" which they have 4 buildings. Then I was insulted, threatened to be fired, and screamed at for not having my long term and short term goals clearly specified. Never mind that the manager should guide an employee that information.

We appreciate all comments! Start-up environments, like ours, are very dynamic and not suited for everyone. The mission is compelling, and you'll work alongside some genuinely smart, motivated people who care about what they're building. At the team level, there's real camaraderie, people show up for each other even when things get hard. You'll rarely be bored since the work is varied and you'll develop skills across areas you didn't expect. Pay is reasonable, and for someone who wants to grow fast, the environment will force that growth whether you're ready for it or not

The instability is hard to ignore. Multiple rounds of layoffs in a short window have left a lot of people either burned out or quietly planning their exit, if they haven't exited already. It's tough to stay focused on building something when the ground keeps shifting beneath you. Leadership has not always inspired confidence. There's a pattern of decisions being made without enough input from the people who actually understand the problem, and when things go sideways, accountability tends to be murky. The people closest to the work often end up absorbing the consequences of decisions they had no part in making. How the company handles difficult moments says a lot about its culture, and some of those moments haven't been handled well. Employees deserve better communication, especially when their livelihoods are on the line. Benefits are a weak spot. No 401k matching in particular lags behind what comparable companies offer.
