Competent department management, willing to go the extra mile for employees. They know what needs to be done to improve the resort if they had the budget. Honest and hardworking (for the most part) coworkers. Nice location.

There's not enough maintenance money available. Equipment and infrastructure is patched together (lifts are 35+ years old without drive motor replacement, industry standard is ~20 years. Pipes often burst and are patched, not replaced. Power for the slope lights was torn out and spliced to another circuit, this couldn't handle the load and the upper mountain was unlit for 1/3 of the season.) Personal protective equipment isn't provided - I saw snowmakers and maintenence guys with no hard hats or ear protection most of the time. The area won an award for worst ski area marketing last season, and it was nearly empty lots of weekends. The new management doesn't seem to know how to market a ski area.
