If you're willing to help him move the company forward, you'll be able to work hard and see the results, and find several people willing to work alongside you to see what can happen. It's easy to find 5-10 people who genuinely care about what's next and have the power to work on it, and this is enough to keep the whole company moving forward and improving.

There are a few silos where management thinks their people can't talk to anyone outside their own boss. These managers talk a big game and get very little done, because they're not willing to let their employees make decisions, but they're not able to make the right decisions for their employees.
