You can develop a lot of knowledge in this role if you are new to IT. The amount of knowledge you need to do your job properly is incredibly high. Great for learning relational database basics and general IT. Excellent manager, one of the best I've ever had. Some of the employees are very helpful and knowledgeable. Work day ends when the work day ends, occasional Sundays are scheduled well in advance and can get you days off during the week.

Does not pay well. President does not make counter offers or give raises. Senior technicians are generally unwilling to help junior technicians. Difficult to get assistance if you run into obstacles, and information can be very niche due to the nature of the software being supported. Policies are extremely inconsistent, and you can find yourself charging for a service one day and not the next. The software is extremely buggy and customers are frequently frustrated; solution is typically to pay for an upgrade. President of the company is anti-WFH and only makes exceptions for senior techs who cannot be replaced.
