Vantaggi

Excellent pay. Environmental consulting company with a strong science base and good engineers too (not the typical engineering company with a few scientists tacked on). "Big Science". Rescan takes on large, complex projects with multimillion dollar budgets. No running around doing silly little backyard projects.

Svantaggi

Projects lack diversity. It's 90% mining in Northern Canada with the odd international job. No room for seniors to grow. Executive management is young, so you will remain a senior scientist or project manager forever if you wait for them to retire. Very poor work/life balance - no flexibility in hours, telecommuting not allowed, only 3 weeks vacation per year. CEO does not trust his employees - no working from home, must sign in/out of the building just to get a coffee.

distrustful CEO and President (of their employees) multiple best employer awards selectively applied for by the company that are disdained by employees because it doesn't match with their day to day experience.

good entry level staffers and low managers. Upper level management lost in the clouds. Pay is ok. Benefits ok. Bonuses are ridiculous and petty.

management is lost in the clouds - cheap cheap cheap. Bonuses are mysterious and non existant. lack of motivation other than negative input from senior management.
