* we have an amazing workplace team, and we have many events (with fun treats and free food) almost every week. coming into the office is super fun. * free breakfast / lunch on in person days * great work life balance -- never work on weekends/after hours (except if on call, but it's still rare) * lots of parents in more senior roles, so that instills good balance to rest of team, they set good example * work is interesting, and product is used by many and feels important * overall really friendly people who work here * unlimited PTO, and people actually use it (respectfully). I have taken many random days off and larger trips, and managers do too, so creates good example.

* almost no product managers, so engineers have to make a lot of decisions (with help from designers + engineering managers) * people don't love our leadership, their communication isn't always the most straightforward, but they've received a lot of feedback on this and are definitely showing improvement here * don't have many entry level engineers, so it's hard for mid-level engineers to mentor (there is no one to mentor!) * related, but retool doesn't have intern program * retool doesn't have many DEI initiatives (basically 0) and I wish it had more community :(
