Vantaggi
Free food. Some great colleagues. Occasionally there are dogs in the office. Resignation feels amazing.
Svantaggi
Where do I even begin? Professional cons: - Long hours with no overtime pay. Work volume increases exponentially but you’re just expected to deal with it. - Stressful (see above). You’ll probably find yourself drinking a lot to deal with your developing anxiety problems, but at least there will be colleagues who’ll join you. - Micro-management. You’ll find yourself nodding your head a lot as the arguments with the all-knowing, all-seeing managers simply aren’t worth it. - No HR. Makes it difficult/impossible to raise issues you're having. - Mood swings. Expect to be ignored in the morning, yelled at in the afternoon, and invited out for drinks at 6pm. Some stability would be welcome. - Management will expect your loyalty but have no respect for you. - They run "hacks” where you’ll spend your weekends and/or nights working on some “brilliant fun idea” that you won't be paid (or thanked) for. - As has been recently demonstrated (check out all those five star reviews from end June - early July!!) will try to bury negative reviews and call people out for writing them, instead of admitting there is a problem and dealing with it. If someone has left an anonymous review and management apparently weren't aware of the issues they raised, I’d wager that employee isn't comfortable talking to management about said issues. That's a massive internal problem. - Can’t eat at your desk - what’s that about? - Too transparent. Seems like pointing out the obvious, but it’s not a great feeling when you hear how much “brand new shiny employee” is making per year when it’s a great deal more than your own salary. - Being yelled at. Apart from Rex, I've never worked anywhere where management preferred screaming at employees (or each other for that matter) instead of having actual adult conversations. Not only is it childish, it’s incredibly counterproductive. Social cons: - Your friends and family will worry about your rapidly declining mental health. They will not envy you when they find out where you work. Lifestyle cons: - You can’t decompress working somewhere like this. - Oh, and seeing as everyone else mentioned it - yeah, the parking sucks. But it’s so far from being the worst thing about this place it’s laughable.
