The experience was extremely negative. You’re expected to work 8–6, Monday to Friday, often working through your lunch break because the workload is completely unrealistic. It’s particularly frustrating given that everyone is paid minimum wage.
The turnover is incredibly high — no one seems to stay longer than three to four months — which speaks volumes.
Working with the CEO is especially challenging. He appears to care only about maximising his own profit and routinely “stress tests” employees to their limit. There is no recognition for good work, only threats of demotion or dismissal for even the smallest mistake. The atmosphere is one of fear, not support.
The CEO’s behaviour is also deeply concerning; he demonstrates bias, micromanages every task, and creates an environment where people feel they cannot do their jobs properly.
Overall, it’s a place where retail — for the same pay — would offer a far better working environment.
