I experienced toxicity from a person who was a leader and would always talk about other employees even her direct reports in a negative light. I am sure she talked about me often as well. Not very good with technology or adapting to technology and mean to vendors and other employees below her or even equal peers. Unfortunately she goes way back with the main boss and even when reported is shielded from these issues ever getting to HR. It breeds bad behavior where multiple people have similar attitudes and do not listen to managers direction going to our leader to undermine manager requests to get their way. Another toxic person who has attitude is not very good at his job and swears he is always right but makes more mistakes than I have ever seen from a direct report. He is also protected by our leaders. I would definitely think twice about joining the Facilities Team as you will not have life work balance and be forced to work weekends and Holidays without any compensation or comp time. Some are forced to stay until 6pm just in case something goes wrong onsite. I was even asked to change my Dr. Appointments to after work hours! It challenged my mental health and had me questioning my abilities as a subject matter expert in my field. When a leader see's someone who is good at what they do and has ideas that are modern using technology it was all shot down until they were forced to use the technology. Almost felt like I was attacked by a leader and made look bad all the time because they were threatened about their job and not comfortable seeing someone with more experience in areas she was not very good at. Definitely not good and developing or managing people. Great at breaking them down and making them feel worthless though. Bad behavior is acceptable and even rewarded with promotion here.
