Vantaggi
The hours are incredibly easy. For a private wealth firm, I'm amazed that portfolio managers and portfolio management associates start as late as 9am. Most are out the door by 6pm. No one on the Street starts this late unless they are leaving work later in the day. The people are by and large nice and easy to work with, with a couple of exceptions
Svantaggi
Very few resources devoted to training and cultivating talent. It's really up to the person to do what they can to advance/manage their career. It also depends who you report to and how engaged/interested the senior manager is in developing talent and keeping them engaged Micromanagement can be an issue Management doesn't value staff in the monetary sense of the term either. Tasks and responsibilities are broken down into an assembly line approach, giving me a poor impression of how personal service and possibly be provided in such an environment Not enough resources put into IT systems. They have a lot to catch up on in terms of technology. Realistically, trades could not be executed until at least half an hour into the trading day because the systems could not be updated for the prior day's prices before the market open.
