Roke previously struggled with Project Management, but went on a drive in 2018 to hire better PM staff. This was largely successful, and resulted in an improvement in project delivery, and customer satisfaction scores. This started to decline in 2021, when Roke recruited a sociopathic narcissist into the delivery director post, an individual with neither background in STEM nor demonstrable success/experience in a senior delivery management role. Over a 12 month period all the good project managers and one account manager left, to be replaced by under- performers from similar Crypt Key organisations, inexperienced graduates, and contractors who have never worked in a commercial environment where they’ve been required to deliver to external customers on commercial contracts. In some cases they were brought in without adequate security clearance. When challenged, they responded that the delivery director was ‘an old friend’. The graduates have been cowed and bullied by the delivery director, to the extent that they won’t speak in team meetings for fear of ridicule. These behaviours have been brought up with line management, but LM staff have literally told subordinates that any complaints would ‘come back on then’. It’s laughable that Roke claim they take bullying seriously with the evidence to the contrary. This individual has been in post for a few years, and Roke continue to ignore the evidence that’s been presented at exit interview, which appears to be the only time staff feel they can speak without recrimination, although this individual then does their best to denigrate them to any new employer. Customers have complained about the degradation in delivery and project management. Roke delivery management repeatedly lie to save their own skins and claim that no problems exist. Roke were in a place of privilege working within a closed commercial framework that had limited competition, this has changed and they’re now in competition with both the UK and the World’s largest defence suppliers – they’ve seen your current delivery and project management, and they’re rubbing their hands with glee.
