I worked at Rotech Healthcare and found the attendance policy to be very strict, with little flexibility for unexpected life events. The company enforces a three-incident rule, meaning after a third occurrence, termination can happen regardless of the circumstances.
For example, I witnessed a situation where a coworker had to leave work to pick up their child who became sick at school. The following day, the school called again requiring the child to be picked up. Because both situations were unexpected and did not meet the required notice period, this ultimately counted against them and resulted in termination. Situations like this highlight how challenging it can be for employees to manage real-life emergencies under the current policy.
While I understand the need for consistency in attendance, I believe that supporting employees during difficult or unexpected situations helps build a work environment where people feel valued. When employees feel supported, they are more likely to stay, contribute positively, and do great work. Prospective employees should be aware of this policy when considering the role.
