Vantaggi
You get to work on fun, engaging projects and you work on new things every day. It's a great fit for someone looking looking for a position that is interestingly different than your average desk job. The school evaluation program and intern program are well invested in and have allocated staff members in charge of them. Overall makes for great learning experience. Offered a good benefits package for a single person but can't say for sure for those with a family. You get free drinks, monthly catered lunches from note-worthy Columbus restaurants, fun office events/happy hours, and Christmas week off.
Svantaggi
Not the best place for less experienced full time employees - workload on staff can be high so not many people have time for helping or mentorship. Mid-Senior level associates often thrive here as they can work quickly and independently. Some studio management has gained a reputation for creating a toxic work environment. Competition is valued more than collaboration. Micromanagement and talking behind people's backs is common. This has lead to increased turnover as of recently. The work can be fast paced, so it's not the best fit for everyone. You may become a jack of all trades rather than proficient at any one discipline. Compensation for associates outside of management is also low, but typical for museum industry creative professions.
