Playing with dogs and cats all day is truly amazing. There are lots of learning opportunities as well from the veterans in the company.

Lack of leadership, Favoritism, untrained staff. Unsafe work environment. Inappropriate relationships between management and subordinates. Kennel cough is rampant and has been for months on end with no changes to cleaning habits. Employees are on their phones during playtimes and not interacting with the pets, which causes anxiety in the pets and poses a serious safety hazard if something were to go wrong. Pets are put at in harm’s way as a result of a self serving, lazy, and uncaring work environment. Uniform is not enforced. Many employees work in their pajamas, including management. This poses a safety risk when dealing with chemical and equipment handling and looks tacky and Unprofessional. Departments show animosity towards one another and are unable to work in unison due to the environment created by management. This causes a breakdown of communication, further putting the pets at risk, as well as making the work environment uncomfortable.

Not all departments are well managed- different managers for different departments, you may be bitten, long hours and physical work in petcare departments. Expect a physical job.

While staff are told they can decline handling aggressive or unpredictable animals for personal safety, doing so results in disciplinary action or reprimands. This creates a high-risk environment where staff feel forced to compromise their safety to meet management's expectations. ​Workplace Culture and Professionalism: Despite a friendly exterior, the internal culture is highly cliquey and characterized by frequent gossip involving both staff and leadership. This detracts from a professional team environment and impacts overall morale. ​Labor and Scheduling Inconsistencies: The facility operates under extreme budgetary constraints regarding labor, leading to "short-shifting" and frequent mid-shift dismissals. Furthermore, there is a systemic issue where employees feel compelled to perform unpaid work off the clock—even from home—to complete unmanageable workloads. ​Compensation and Employee Wellness The compensation does not reflect the physically demanding and high-stress nature of the role. Additionally, the amenities provided, such as the vending area, often contain near-expired products, which further impacts the feeling of being valued as an employee.
