Contractors are not treated with long term consideration. Once you're there 18 months, you will be laid off under current SAS HR policy whether they need you or not. Someone else will be hired to do what you're doing, have to be trained which will put your department behind. The only reason for this HR policy has to be to keep them from having to hire you, and as such, keeps them from having to lay off any staff. Admirable, but provides a bit too much job security for some who should not be afforded it.
