Vantaggi
CEO treats employees with respect, and is a generally just a good man, hard worker, and a truly fantastic designer.
You will be given the opportunity to work on projects and learn skills that you find exciting and valuable. Starting with hardly any professional experience or education in programming, after two years working at SFP (and tons of studying on my spare time), I had the skills necessary to start a career as an engineer at a tech company of my choosing. You truly get out what you put in at SFP.
Lifelong friendships.
Tech stipend, bonuses, great salary for the Lafayette area.
SFP has fantastic branding, PR, and clients. SFP is a resume item that will be taken seriously by future prospects if you decide to move on.
Svantaggi
If you don't want to "wear a lot of hats", this might not be the place for you. You might do a PSD mockup, a DB schema change, write javascript, talk on the phone with clients, write PHP, and write C# or Coldfusion all in one day.
A bit archaic in terms of some of the tech and tooling used, but its not that bad, and I'm sure there are many improvements in the last 5 years.
You're kind of a "butt in a seat". Expected to be in the office from 9-5, with a little bit of flexibility (i.e. come it at 10 leave at 6). You can get in trouble for being 10 minutes late. Part of this is due to engineers being face-to-face with clients more-so than at other tech firms. This could be improved by focusing more on productivity than on hours spent between 9-5. Many engineers like to burn the midnight oil!
