There are several systems in place to try to make sure that everyone has an opportunity to influence the direction of the company. The company consists of great people who are genuinely excited about the direction the company is heading and have a lot of motivating plans for the future when it comes to accelerating the world of remote work and a borderless life. The team is fully remote and somewhat regular team gatherings around the world (or online during the pandemic) help build team cohesion.

For some people not having an office to go to and see people every day is a con. Another potential con is that every individual on the team is trusted to take initiative and responsibility in their own area. This is a great environment for some to thrive, but if you find it hard to do work if nobody is actively keeping an eye on you it might not be for you. There are no expectations of working unreasonable hours and with an enforced holiday policy of MINIMUM 20 days, SafetyWing takes work/life balance seriously. But given the autonomy of each individual, it might be hard to strike a balance for people who put a lot of pressure on themselves since there is always more to do in a growing startup.
