Vantaggi
Great savings and benefits for the members. Opportunity for advancement, but be willing to relocate and/or travel long commute distances. Get to work with some great associates in the Clubs. Sam's Club has a rich corporate culture that is different from Wal-Mart and that has always been one of the main benefits for working at Sam's Club.
Svantaggi
In the last year and a half the company has reduced the number of managers and team leaders in the Clubs to reduce payroll expense. That has put more pressure on the too few many managers in the new Pretzel model, working 60 hours + a week, doing more of the physical job functions and not enough time for leading and developing, too few cashiers to serve the members for quick check out a severe decrease in overall care for member service. Declining sales putting more and more pressure on expense reduction which means more payroll hour cuts. No work/life balance possible for any salaried manager. Health benefits have declined over the past 2 yrs, higher premiums and higher deductibles to make it affordable. Pressures to upgrade and renew members is super intense every day, way too many membership "events" to try and increase membership income and renewal rates. Company has lost it's way and it's vision of providing excellent Member Service and the understanding that it's Associates are the most valuable asset they have.
