I've spent almost 7 years at Saragossa and have seen the business grow from an intimate 15 person office, to a global firm with 3 offices. There's a great opportunity here if you want to grow a long-term career. One of the main pros of working here is that I've always felt like I've been looked after. As long you're putting the work in, you'll be given a fair chance. Given the market we work in (recruiting technologists into hedge funds and trading firms) our average recruitment fee is a lot higher than other recruitment firms in Bristol which is one of the main reasons I joined from another firm. This means that from an earning potential, you can expect to earn higher fees, and more importantly, higher commission at Saragossa. I've seen graduates join the firm and smash it, earning 5 figure pay checks. Commission aside, the business has always had a commitment to investing into tools & technology to ensure we are able to perform our roles to the best of our ability - if you can demonstrate that there's a better tool or way of doing things, they will consider implementing it. I like that the consultants have been involved in trialling new tech with the firm taking our feedback on board. No doubt recruitment can be a stressful job, but from working here, I've also had the opportunity to enjoy a lot of the 'fun' aspects that come with working in the sector. This ranges from simple things like eating in fancy restaurants, all the way up to going skiing in Val D'isere or going on a bucket list Safari trip to South Africa this year. If you're prepared to put the work in, you'll get the opportunity to enjoy things here that most other people can only dream of. Culture wise, the firm has tried its best to operate a 'no D!3khead' policy when it comes to hiring internally. Overall the environment is good. It's not the 'Wolf of Wall Street culture' that some people looking to get intro recruitment aspire to. It's a good mix of people who are highly supportive of each other. Even if certain people aren't best mates, there's no doubt that everyone here wants everyone else to succeed and win. From a career perspective, you're forced here to deal with very senior stakeholders from high-end finance firms. From constantly speaking with and building relationships with these people (who i'd never naturally cross paths with in my own social circles) I've massively developed my confidence, sales and leadership skills.

The business has achieved a lot of growth during my time here. What this has meant is that things have changed a lot and naturally there have been some growing pains. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, as management are always looking to streamline processes etc but on the desk level it has meant that a process or tool we've rolled out may not be relevant next week. You need to be comfortable dealing with change to be successful here. It's a task-driven culture. If you're looking for a 9-5 job, recruitment isn't for you.
