I've had a unique experience regarding promotion opportunities at my current company. Recently, the organization implemented a job grade restructure, which introduced more ranks between titles. For example, there are now two grades within the Manager level, two within the Senior Manager, and two for AVP. On the surface, this restructure appears to offer more opportunities for employees demonstrating potential for advancement.

However, the reality is somewhat different. Despite the increased number of grades, the promotion quotas for each cycle have remained unchanged. This situation essentially negates the intended purpose of the restructure. In practice, it has become more challenging for new joiners to climb the corporate ladder. This is in stark contrast to those who joined earlier and were able to advance more rapidly with fewer steps in their career paths.
