Vantaggi
- Extremely flexible work hours (few remote opportunities). - Locations. - Will hire just about anybody who can write a simple C++ program or Python script. - Makes time for employee-run education. - There are a handful of extremely intelligent and capable employees.
Svantaggi
- Company asked employees for positive reviews. - Minimal benefits and perks. - Management will look for any way to not pay bonuses or give promotions and raises. You have to bring them offers from other companies to get paid adequately. - Looks to hire the retiring or career-wise disadvantaged. - Failing at recruiting experienced professionals because of their lacking pay and benefits, so they look for exemplary candidates with STEM degrees in addition to programming experience - but who are just starting their careers dedicating their time elsewhere (i.e. non-profits, post-doc...). In short, they refuse to pay for professionals, and they underpay stellar employees who lack prior experience elsewhere. - They are currently hemorrhaging employees and cannot attract quality new-hires. - The industry is aware of all of this, and they have essentially garnered a reputation as the cheap company.
