Vantaggi
Nice people, very welcoming, lots of support, huge salary for not a lot of work in return, stupidly good benefits (pension, sick pay etc), you'll never get fired
Svantaggi
Barely any work to do. The pace of work is so slow and the majority of my coworkers worked like they were in slow motion. I could finish most of my tasks (which were boring and trivial 99% of the time) for the day in a few hours, and asking for more work only ever amounted to the odd 5 mins extra job. Listen, if you wanna coast by your life putting in the bare minimum of effort and still get a decent salary and ridiculous benefits, government might be for you but if you like working hard, problem solving, difficult and complex tasks etc I'd steer well away. For context, I left for a lower paid job that had interesting and difficult work because Scot Govt bored me to the point of insanity. Was actually told my someone senior to "get out of that private-sector mentality that you need to be busy all the time"
