Vantaggi
-Pockets of good, hard working people at the company -Flexible hours due to “remote first” but the hours can be demanding or sporadic by role/person due to global nature -Generally very transparent organization
Svantaggi
-Senior Leadership Team (SLT) does not create and offer a strategic vision for the employees to rally around. There are “big bets/rocks” but not much of an actual coherent strategy of how it is going to propel the business forward. Nor is there a consistent “rallying cry” to motivate employees and know what they are working towards. Mission? $$ start up rocket ship? Etc. -Culture is not strong/positive and leadership is not supportive. In many orgs there is an ongoing sense that any day you could be considered good or bad at your job. -24/7 nature of the company due to global work and limited resources. The company encourages “flexible hours” but it’s more flexible in the sense that you can pick up kids at 4:30 then get back on at 6. Not “work 8-6” give or take in your time zone. There are many roles with 1-2 people in them (such as a sales eng or website or social media) role that if the one person is in another time zone with minimal overlap, you won’t get anything done for 24+ hours or if you’re the “1 person” you’re gonna be expected to hop on the computer at many weird hours. -Processes are completely lacking. SCW is a startup, so it is expected to not have mature processes but fundamental aspects are missing on the employee experience. For example, Clear level/role guidelines for what success looks like does not exist for most roles. -Despite being a startup, the company lacks urgency and speed in decision making. It’s somewhat bureaucratic but without good process so you have slow decision making like a big company without the actual scale benefit. -Product is getting very stale without a clear roadmap of how it will innovate to outpace the market. Also is expensive compared to many competitors. -Extremely high turnover rate, SLT has turned over almost completely other than co-founders, many other employees leave quickly by choice or “shown the door” as well. (I left by choice)
