The two most important things to me in a job are 1. To find the work I am doing to be genuinely interesting and fulfilling, and 2. To be able to tackle that work with a team of individuals who are great both as colleague and as people. Sensible has both of these in spades. The work itself is fascinating. I have had the opportunity not only to take on interesting and challenging engineering problems, but also to learn about the worlds of climatology and finance in deep ways from very knowledgeable and engaging teammates. Moreover, these teammates are just lovely. Everyone brings self-accountability and excitement for the work, but also lots of unique interests outside of work. This is one of my favorite things about the company - we all value flexibility, respect this for each other, and understand the communication and reliability needed to maintain this environment.

Working at a startup isn’t for everyone. We are growing and continuing to define things as we do so. I personally like this, I appreciate being a part of these conversations. But I think it requires some level of comfort with working in ambiguity and somewhat autonomously.
