ServerFarm may not be the right fit for everyone. The company operates with minimal standardization across its locations, and policies often vary—not just due to local regulations, but because of a lack of centralized governance. This can lead to confusion and inconsistency in day-to-day operations. The corporate office is marked by a stark cultural divide: one group is highly aggressive and competitive, while another consists of long-tenured employees who are deeply invested in maintaining the status quo. This dynamic can create friction and make collaboration difficult. If you thrive in a highly competitive environment where internal rivalry is common and your success depends on someone else’s failure, you may find ServerFarm to be a good match. However, if you value teamwork, consistency, and a supportive workplace culture, you may want to explore other opportunities. There were some great people at my center, and we naturally formed a support group to help each other navigate the challenges. Unfortunately, the overall culture was toxic. One of my coworkers, for example, was being harassed by their supervisor. They reached out to the head of HR via email, but never received a response. In fact, it seemed like HR may have shared the complaint internally, because the harassment escalated and eventually led to the tech quitting. That incident was a turning point for me—it made me realize it was time to start looking for a new opportunity.
