Gebrek aan duidelijke koers – strategische richting en beslissingen veranderen regelmatig. Weinig transparantie in managementbesluiten – beslissingen worden soms zonder overleg teruggedraaid. Ontbrekend opleidings- en ontwikkelplan – geen structurele aandacht voor groei of opleiding. Geen vast beloningsbeleid – salaris en voorwaarden lijken niet eenduidig geregeld. Hoge verwachtingen van flexibiliteit, maar weinig wederkerigheid – flexibiliteit wordt gevraagd, maar niet altijd geboden. Thuiswerken is lastig – beperkte mogelijkheden om op afstand te werken. Niet nagekomen afspraken – beloftes of toezeggingen worden niet altijd waargemaakt. Angstcultuur onder collega’s – medewerkers durven zich niet altijd vrij te uiten. Autoritaire managementstijl – leidinggeven wordt soms als dwingend of controlerend ervaren. Incidenten met ongepaste communicatie – stemverheffing komt voor.

The company has developed extensive onboarding materials with multiple online modules that explain the industry and the business model. This shows an effort to help new employees understand the context in which they will work. However, the time required to complete these materials is significantly underestimated.

My experience revealed serious issues with transparency and consistency. The recruitment process was lengthy, involved several rounds, and included a request for references, implying real commitment. In the end, they offered me a nearly identical role under a different title. During onboarding, I received consistently positive feedback, with minor negative feedback. Despite this, my contract was suddenly ended during the probation period. The shift was abrupt and contradicted the positive messages that were affirmed by more than one team member earlier. The role was advertised as a marketing position, yet early expectations centered mostly on tasks not highlighted in the job description. Efforts to make straightforward marketing improvements, such as refreshing LinkedIn materials, updating visuals, or preparing for future initiatives, were not welcomed. While the company promotes itself as fast-moving and modern, the reality is that it likes to move slowly, and it is resistant to new ideas. Shortly after my departure, a new vacancy appeared that closely resembled my former role but at a lower seniority level and with changed language requirements compared to what was communicated during recruitment. This reinforced the impression that expectations had not been presented honestly from the beginning. Overall, the company operates more like a traditional small business than the “dynamic scale-up” it advertises itself to be. Initiative is discouraged, and the environment is not supportive of modern marketing practices.
