A disjointed and unorganized mess! - Recensione dipendente - Community Operations presso Shiftgig

Shiftgig lacks direction. “We are not a staffing agency” is a common phrase within Shiftgig. Honestly, it is nothing more than a glorified staffing agency with technology behind it. The organization is full of people who should have never been placed in leadership positions. When a manager says, “It’s okay if you feel like you’re half-assing your job, because that’s just how we operate,” you know there are organizational issues. It doesn’t matter if your a startup or a well-established Fortune 500 company, no organization should function in that fashion. Very little respect for personal life. In my opinion, you should expect work to combine with your personal life at times with any job that requires it, but people within this organization frequently disrespect the concept of personal life. This means that you are often expected to respond to anything at a moment’s notice. The compensation doesn’t equate with the responsibilities of the position. Projects always appear to be done last minute, and with an extreme lack of communication. Within any organization, there is an expectation of last minute projects, but this was all too common at Shiftgig. It always appeared like the team in Chicago spent their time playing games (aka... “building teamwork). Any organization spending its time attempting to sell its employees on ping-pong tables, bean bag chairs, weekly games, kegerators and so on, is more than likely using it as a distraction to admit that the organization lacks and hasn’t truly found its own company culture. Those shiny things may look cool and attract for awhile, but with time that will fade. Shiftgig looks promising, polished, and shiny on the outside. On the inside? It’s a completely different story. Interesting concept, but I don’t foresee the organization surviving much longer without some major leadership and organizational change.
