Vantaggi
Go ahead, read the cons first and then come back to this if you're still interested, as quite literally everything else I have to say about working here is incredibly positive. Let's start with the biggest benefit of working here: Flexibility. For many, it's the primary reason most of us work here. It's like working at an MLM that isn't a Pyramid Scheme --only you're not your own boss and you don't need to buy and fail to sell excess amounts of snake oil. Even in customer support, you can work from anywhere and set your own hours on your terms, on the day of and can clock in and out as you please. Management also strongly hires from within, meaning the vast majority of team members across all departments started out as support operators. The company is also incredibly transparent and hosts quarterly and monthly meetings on other departments progress and makes the documentation of other departments available to everyone within the company --as well as meeting notes from leadership meetings. Because of the high level of transparency and internal hiring, people from other departments are often able to work together on issues that would otherwise typically end up being siloed.
Svantaggi
For years, pay and actual benefits have long been uncompetitive in the US market (90% of the team are contractors) and have led to many people leaving Shockbyte for higher paying opportunities or having worked second jobs (e.g. DoorDash, Starbucks, etc.) to make ends meet or receive crucial benefits like PTO and Health Care. While management seems invested in their contractors and long-term careers at Shockbyte with pay having significantly improved since I joined and benefits and employment are on the way, it's still unclear how comprehensive or competitive they'll be.
