I intentionally waited until I worked here for at least one year to avoid giving a review during the honeymoon phase. I also wanted to make sure I went through any tough seasons at the company and see the aftermath. Despite the crazy rollercoaster, I can happily and confidently say that this is a great place to work. Because this is a startup, the work is interesting and fulfilling. You get to own your work all from start to finish. For things this company has never done before, you get to pioneer those efforts and see it through, as well as see the impact of it. Also despite it being a startup, if you ask for help and resources, everyone rallies with you to make sure you get what you need to the best of their ability. You never feel like you don't have enough resources to do your best work. The culture, though, is the best part. Being a fully remote company has not been a problem at all and management REALLY encourages you to have a relationship with your team. I've spoken with many other people at other remote-only companies, and they talk about how hard it is to connect and meet their coworkers, but Shopmonkey gives you all the resources to meet up with fellow colleagues in your area, and even outside them. We have quarterly off sites with your team, they fund local meetups, have virtual activities (that aren't dull and cheesy), and I can honestly say I see some of my coworkers more often than some local friends. And every single person who works here is just so damn cool. They also encourage you to visit the office, and when you're there, the CEO and COO make a very noticeable effort to talk to you and get to know you.

It is a startup, so that means there are days and weeks where it seems like you're being pulled in a million different directions, and it's difficult not to get caught up in the chaos. It's a very fast-paced environment as a result. Growing pains often means you ask questions and nobody here has the answers, or nobody has done certain things before so you have to just figure it out as you go. You'll find yourself in many positions where you need to give grace to management or your peers because many of us are doing this for the first time and make human mistakes, and that includes the C-suite as well. I have a lot of experience working in fast-paced client-facing positions and other startups, so I have gotten very good at discovering and holding my boundaries to achieve the work/life balance I personally want. Anyone who works here HAS to have the conviction to achieve their own work/life balance because it can be very easy to fall victim to the pace, chaos, and deadlines and eventually burnout and grow resentful. Generally, all the "cons" are all about startups, fast-paced environments. If you go in with your eyes wide open, you'll be very happy here.

- Little to no micromanagement - There are a handful of decent people who work there - Traveling on the company's dime is a nice perk - In theory, the values are solid.

- If you aren't on the sales team, the company truly does not care about you. - Tech-bro culture - Unrealistic expectations and goals (unless you are on the sales team) - Not Shopmonkey's fault, but the customer base can be volatile and difficult to work with.
