Vantaggi
Where do I start? I guess I'll start with what I consider to be the best thing - Jim (our CEO) has taken the time to understand what I'm good at and what I'm interested in and has allowed me to take on projects in which I can utilize my strengths. This has made my 5 years at ShortStack very fulfilling. I've learned a ton of new skills and feel as though the sky is the limit in terms of how much more I can learn. I'm encouraged to be creative, share my ideas, and advise on decisions based on my experience. I truly feel valued here. Working at ShortStack is fun. The office includes a bar, video game area, a rooftop patio, and even a "shop" in which you can work on your car, do some wood-working (I built a table), or whatever the heck you want. It's amazing. Beyond the amenities, the team is a fun, smart, hard-working group. There's no office drama, no cliques, no schlubs - just a group of people who genuinely enjoy each other's company. We have lunch on Fridays, have boat days at the lake, and even participate in events together (like the RTO). ShortStack offers competitive compensation, health care and retirement benefits, flexible hours, and free t-shirts! Seriously, we get loads of free t-shirts.
Svantaggi
Well, no work-place is perfect, but that's another cool thing about working here. As long as you have a good attitude, bringing up concerns is encouraged. Jim's door is open. He's understanding and eager to make his employees happy. I only mention this because it might be important to some people - there isn't a managerial hierarchy here. We all sort of made-up our own titles and the structure is very linear. If you're looking to climb the corporate ladder, this isn't really a place for that.
