Vantaggi
1. Great business model of preferentially hiring from within via their apprenticeship program or in-house employees 2. Flexibility with time and unlimited PTO. 3. Flexibility with work location because more than 70% to 80% of roles are remote. 4. Great turnaround on reimbursements as long as you get it in before the pay period. 5. STS rewards hard work, initiatives, and persistence. So, if you are a lifelong learner and are open to putting in the work, you will be rewarded. 6. STS is valid for supporting career growth for minorities and demography that are economically disadvantaged. 7. Overall, pay and benefits are fine. It all depends on value you can provide.
Svantaggi
1. You need to be a US citizen because they are government subcontractors for most of their roles. Except for some in-house positions at their HQ office in DC, where it may not be needed. 2. With government jobs, there are red tapes one has to deal with. So, you have to be ready for that. 3. With remote jobs, you have to be very disciplined and organized to get things done. No one will be looking over your shoulder or holding your hands for every duty. So, not for everyone. 4. Remote jobs can also be very detached because you don't see people or engage much, but the company tries to correct that by periodically organizing online and live events. 5. STS has a startup feel, so one should expect the growing pains that come with that. 6. More opportunities needed for people transitioning out of the apprenticeship program. All these are not deal breakers for me since I can manage it effectively. Could be for someone else.
