Vantaggi
I learned a lot during my time at Smarsh. I had the opportunity to work with some amazing people who took their time in educating and working with me to help make the Smarsh systems more robust and more reliable. Employee perks were great, although it felt like the company was holding onto a fresh startup mindset, which new management was pushing to move away from.
Svantaggi
New management that was brought in to the Site Reliability Engineering team did not want to see the entire team succeed. For myself and others on the team, there was no focus in helping to grow, adapt, and succeed. For me personally, there was collaboration between management and HR to eliminate me from the company. Management's goal should be on helping their employees grow and succeed, but unfortunately for me, my use of FMLA resulted in discrimination, backed by HR. Ultimately I decided to leave Smarsh because of this discrimination and because of family health issues that demanded my attention. I can only believe that HR's involvement in this decision was entirely due to a lack of FMLA education, and I hope that either that HR representative is no longer with Smarsh or has been properly informed on how NOT to handle such issues going forward.
