Vantaggi
There is a general willingness among employees to help each other, participate in events, good work ethics, and a real potential to be a great work environment. The owners of the company are very gracious and giving. The benefits are plentiful including bonus, paid volunteer time, and lots of free food days and celebrations. The company picnics are always filled with entertainment and some diversity. There is a real spirit of Small Town Americana when you walk through the facilities, people are kind and will even offer to share their lunches with you. You can feel like you are a part of something bigger. They have internships and host open houses for high school kids from high risk areas to inspire them into manufacturing careers. Their 'green' initiatives into recycling, solar power, and gardening are imbedded in their processes. The team has one heck of a green thumb. It is extremely hard to be terminated here if you are an office or long term employee. There are many women in Leadership positions from the production floor to middle management.
Svantaggi
In general they are terribly understaffed and disordered. There is a quiet chaos that leads you to wonder what is going to catch fire next. Everyday is a game of hot-potato as the turn over here is incredible. There is a growing separation of general product knowledge have's and have nots. Scrap is an issue, the floor has a mentality that it is cheaper to remake it. Leadership will either take no accountability often searching for blame to be on a person's shoulders rather than the inefficiencies they are facing or give the issue to the same few who always handle it. There are questionable practices with a third facility. There is a movement to 'title-less' roles, but in a place where no one or "the regular-ones" are responsible there aren't really titles to begin with. There needs to be movement that brings in 45 and under crowd of thinkers because there are many long term (15+ years) employees who do not want change and cannot think outside of the box. There are many family groups that work here including the owners. Outsiders on the production floors are bullied out, yelled at, and often quit in less than 30 days. There is a strong patriarchal leadership mentality (ex: women cannot drive a forklift, but may drive the pickers) on the production floor and hints in the office working atmosphere, female leaders do not always have strong support and are second guessed or blown off. Parking is tough, the lot fills up quickly.
