The management that directs the company and the team I was assigned to is very short-sighted regarding training. A blatant disregard for the experience of the team members and a total lack of any customer-focused development. There is no adherence to the basics of training development (i.e know the audience, know the product, and show an understanding of the audience's needs. The management does not communicate and tends toward secrecy. The management leads by pushing, demanding, and criticizing instead of leading by example, depending on the team, and guiding them towards a common goal. The expectations are that you must spend your time outside of work on work projects and personal training. No compensation for training was ever offered. I never received a raise in the six years that I worked there. The only training that I was offered to improve my performance and knowledge equated to 30 minutes offered by my manager in which she just took over my computer and proceeded to work on an issue without any real explanations or "training". I felt that I could not go to HR for help, nor could I go to the department director for any assistance. I spent many days working 12-14 hours to meet deadlines. This dedication was never appreciated. I worked hard but the double standards maintained by the management were incredibly frustrating. The stress created by the management created an incredibly toxic environment.
