Vantaggi

There are some good, smart people here. They will work with you and help watch your back. The product is a good concept, and you will develop skills and endurance that you can use at a real company after you're done here. However, they come at the expense of the cons detailed below.

Svantaggi

Despite having a good concept of a product, it's terribly executed. As another review states, the company is constantly in catch-up mode. The software rarely operated smoothly and new features were constantly mired with bugs or setbacks. You’d think they would thoroughly test their product before releasing it to their customers, but that’s often not the case. The sales department regularly misrepresents the software to their prospects. It’s not entirely their fault; they are not well-trained on the software themselves and are told to say whatever it takes to sell the client. Though sometimes it is when they just want to close a sale, even if they know better. As a result, clients (especially the big, important ones) were always unhappy, disappointed, and it’s taken out on you. Turnover is high, a combination of people being let go and quitting as well, once they realize they were sold a fake bag of goods. As a result, you will often find yourself not only managing your assigned workload, but also the work of whoever was just axed or left. Morale is very low. At one point, our team went from about 8 or 9 solid people to about 4 within the span of 4 weeks. One stated they'd rather be unemployed than continue working here, when they tried to keep them on. Another went back to their old job that paid *less* because it wasn't worth it here. Unless you are part of the development team, you're going to feel like your voice isn't carried very far here. Understandably, sometimes an issue cannot be addressed immediately. But when *months* go by with little, if any, progress or updates on something you were told would be acknowledged, it's very discouraging for you, your team, and your clients. Upper management and the executives are terrible, and have no grasp of what is actually going on with their company and staff. The CEO, despite stating that he has an “open-door policy” and wants to know what’s going on with you, is very out of touch with the actual state of his company and employees. It's nice that you want to be the best solution on the market for eCommerce management, but when your product doesn't work, when you have way too few people to manage the workload, and you can't settle on what kind of company you want to be, you're never going to get anywhere. The building that the office is located in is a mess. Physically run-down, dirty, noisy, and smelly. A few months ago, they had a rat infestation that management quietly sat on, until the rats (and their excrements) were frequently spotted in offices, restrooms, and kitchens. Employees basically had to threaten to contact health officials, and that's when exterminators were finally brought in. The only way to get through this place is to a) absolutely cut it out of your life outside of work hours, b) take it as a stepping stone to something better, and c) a means to an end (i.e. income to pay your bills). Nothing more. If you're the type who is looking for life-fulfillment from their career, this isn't the place for you.

Vantaggi

Honestly, the people are what convinced me to work here. I've worked in marketing for a while, but I didn't know the first thing about ecommerce or inventory management software...so taking a gig marketing for an ecommerce software company was something about which I was a little wary. The more time I spent in the office, though, the more quickly I was convinced. My first month was supposed to be part-time while I phased out my freelancing work, but I went full-time after a week. The company culture is relaxed and friendly, but the office is still fast-paced and fun. There are also a lot of great restaurants around, Venice is just a couple of miles away...the atmosphere around the office is really nice. Oh, and we've got a ping-pong table. Everybody that works here is friends. We get free lunch (Thai or Indian) every Friday, we have a little latte robot, and once a month we get to take a half day and hit the beach as a group. The people here are intelligent, driven, and friendly. It's really a rad place to work.

Svantaggi

The office is pretty fast-paced, which can be problematic for some people. Self-direction is valued, and that can definitely be tough for some workers. There's really not a lot of micromanagement. For a lot of workers, that's a great thing, but for those that require constant direction, that can be tough. Otherwise, the biggest con is the fact that Washington and Lincoln is ALWAYS a traffic nightmare.
