Working in contract work is difficult, it is never easy. This work environment is worse than one could imagine. The senior leadership is over 2 hours away and does not communicate with its lower employees and cast them off to the side. The only person the senior leadership listens to is the PM. The PM is unknowledgeable and very uneducated individual. Place by a buddy buddy system, there is no room for growth or potential. Your work goes unnoticed, and you will always be scrutinized if you appear to have any knowledge and understanding of the job. The PM will constantly downgrade you, and this will be done in a public form in front of peers, to belittle you and make you feel incompetent. This is the strategy within this work environment. One would figure there would be a check and balance with the federal government, but the senior federal employees endorse this PM's incompetence. You are a veteran, stay away, let your brothers and sisters know of the toxicity of this company, you just might be saving their life.
