Feedback was frequently delivered through raised voices and implicit or explicit threats of contract termination if performance did not meet expectations. From my perspective, this created an environment that felt fear-driven on a daily basis, which is not conducive to good decision-making or long-term performance. Direction was often given with little to no context, yet there was an expectation that full background knowledge already existed in order to make important project decisions. From my experience, asking for clarification or questioning decisions was not encouraged, and challenging the status quo carried perceived risk. The executive leadership team appeared largely uncontactable and was rarely present in the office. From my perspective, this lack of visibility and accessibility further reduced trust and left teams feeling unsupported.
