Vantaggi
Some fellow employees were hard working, intelligent and dedicated to helping each other. Those employees that fell into the aforementioned categories made working there a reasonable experience.
Svantaggi
I will echo many of the cons other people have reported on this site. Note that these issues apply not only to hourly employees but salaried professionals as well. Nepotism: Hidden behind at least three last names that go right to the top. Employees have to watch who they say things to because they're likely talking to a husband, wife, brother, cousin or friend of the family. If management doesn't like what is said the best case is the employee is ignored; worst case management retaliates directly or indirectly. Work/life balance: Employees better be in the office on the dot or early and not leave one second before their scheduled end-of-day time or they're pulled into HR and scolded. There is no flexibility for things like doctor or dentist appointments or family emergencies. If an employee is not in the office at a minimum that's a half vacation day docked. Career: There is no chance for advancement being a small company. Their technologies are outdated by at least five years. This business runs on Microsoft Access and everything is custom programmed in house and is confusing to outsiders and new employees. Their business model is dying and they're scrambling to find something (anything) new to get into before the well runs dry. Holidays: All employees work Labor Day and Memorial Day and any other holiday that falls on a Monday. No exceptions. Vacation time: If employees attempt to take a vacation day adjacent to one of the few paid holidays management will penalize the employee by taking away holiday pay and make them use a second vacation day. They also ban vacation requests October through December meaning vacation days can only be used nine months out of the year. No exceptions. Location: This place is in LaGrange, Ohio. It is miles from any urban center making running errands impossible. The only quick food options in town are Subway and McDonalds. Employees need quick food options because lunch is thirty minutes and they mean it. If an employee takes over thirty minutes for lunch they will be pulled into HR and scolded. Payroll: It's monthly, it's via paper check and management intentionally waits until five minutes before the end of the day to hand out the check ensuring employees are hard pressed to get their money for one or two business days after waiting all month. Salaried employees must punch a paper time clock.
