Wouldn't Recommend - Recensione dipendente - Optical Assistant presso Specsavers

- Weekend work compulsory, those who work a Sunday are paid for a full day for working half a day but Saturday workers work the full day and are only paid for this - unfair - Management, especially the Directors, of this store have "favorites" and only offer these individuals new opportunities - Every employee expected to work a minimum of half an hour overtime each day but this is not reflected in pay - UNPAID OVERTIME - Team moral very negative at this store, throughout your day other staff members will constantly complain about how unhappy they are at this store and it can affect your mood, management are aware of this universal outlook but aren't willing to make improvements to change this - No care for staff well-being, when having 1-2 days absence due to illness you are challenged, having to prove evidence of illness/condition to directors as if facing a jury - High staff turnover, many staff do resign themselves due to treatment of employee's - At your interview you will be offered a variety of training, but when employed by the store your own personal training is expected to be completed at home - again unpaid - If wanting a career in optics Specsavers is not the place, until i found another job at a different company i was always under the impression Specsavers offered a wide variety of quality products, this is not the case. Specsavers is so cheap because it offers old lens technology, new products are constantly being released but to cut costs Specsavers only offer a very basic, cheap and dated range. In their training they do not make you aware of this and when advising to a patient you only have limited knowledge unless a qualified Dispensing Optician or one in training - The bonus scheme was taken away as an incentive as employees were selling "too much"!? Please do understand Specsavers is a franchise and some of these points do only depend on the store you are based at.
