I was an acquired Time Warner Cable employee. TWC had its issues, but at the end of the day, I felt like they cared about me as an employee. Charter came in and killed morale in every way that they could. There were superficial things like forcing us to take down office decorations (they didn't want us showing the free posters from HBO/Showtime/Starz/etc because they didn't want to give them "free advertising") and enacting full business dress 7 days a week, including weekends and late hours. They overloaded supervisors, eliminated jobs, cut pay, and did just about all of the stereotypical awful things that a company does in a merger. They axed entire departments and shoved the work onto middle management...why pay two people to do a job, when you can overload one while also cutting their pay?
