1. The lack of professionalism in management. Managers are often what sets the tone for the workplace environment, and the environment here at Bay News 9 is definitely not to be desired. The lack of professionalism from most of the executive producers here is abysmal, and sadly, this is especially true about one of BN9's news directors. They will gossip. They will play favorites and they will blatantly show their favoritism (and distain for those who aren't their favorites of the week) in the workplace. Because of this, the morale is very low and the turnover rate is very high at Bay News 9. 2. The contracts. Once you're employed at Bay News 9, you'll have to sign a three-year contract. If you break your contract early, or if your contract is up and you've decided not to sign with them again, then you'll have to deal with a six-month non-compete. So you won't be able to work at a different news station in the Tampa Bay area for six months after your employment. You also won't be able to work at competing stations in cities where Charter Communications, Bay News 9's parent company, has a news station. Cities include: Austin, TX, New York City, and Raleigh, NC. But the contract's terms and the non-compete clause haven't stopped many people from leaving. Employers often use contracts to lower the turnover rate but it definitely hasn't helped BN9. That just goes to show you how toxic BN9's work environment is.
