Benefits and salary are not great, so the proportion of experienced talent versus inexperienced talent is low. There is asymmetric investment in business structure and bureaucracy versus core competencies. (Or at least the perception of the last.) This might be a consequence of being a hardware company with a large equipment overhead, leaving less to invest in workforce. Speedgoat seems to be nearly exclusively marketing and sales driven when it comes to decision making. The bonus compensation structure is odd, with everyone in the company being paid an extra salary in a given calendar year, or no one being paid an extra salary. So compensation above and beyond base salary has little to no link with individual performance and hinges entirely on the sales team meeting their performance goals. The across the board limit on vacation to the legal minimum of 4 weeks is also puzzling.
