Vantaggi
Firstly - I worked on the software development team, not the tech support ("client success") team. I can only speak to that side of the company for a lot of aspects.
This was my first actual software position and in full disclosure I really enjoyed it. When I got my offer I did my research about the company, like you're probably doing right now, and was a little nervous from some of the reviews I read. I decided to take a chance on it because I really wanted to get into the field and wanted to experience a new state. I'm really glad I did, I think it was more than worth it:
- My time there was easily the most accelerated learning I've ever done - it was a little overwhelming at first just seeing so many new, real-world software topics but I got so much helpful experience.
- I got to touch a wide variety of projects and I always felt like I was actively learning. I was never bored and it always felt like I was getting better at something. If you're passionate about software and you want to improve your skills you can easily do it there.
- Co-workers all around were great! I had a blast and a half both on and off the job.
- Management was helpful, approachable, and flexible; I was always able to deal with life stuff if it suddenly popped up, as it likes to do sometimes.
- Colorado's a real hoppin' place - there's a ton to do and the outdoors and weather are amazing.
The CEO can be blunt; I don't mean rude, just direct, which might bug some but I didn't care. Honestly I thought he was a good guy. If you have a hard time listening to any constructive criticism / suggestions for your work maybe you'd get offended but I thought it was pretty easy to get along well with management.
Bottom Line: I really liked my time there because of the people and the work. It can feel like a lot at some times but if you really do like software & coding you'll enjoy it. You can do all the learning and improving you want, which I preferred to former jobs that felt like it was the same thing over and over at some point. If you put in a lot you'll get out a lot.
Svantaggi
- Start times can feel early, depends on your sleep schedule
- Colorado's a real hoppin' place - it can be easy to spend a lot of money so police yourself a little bit!
