Vantaggi
Excellent group of IT members, all working as a team dedicated to improving the infrastructure. IT is/was regarded very highly throughout the campus. Access to all available Microsoft technologies for research and possible deployment. Immediate management during my employment was always available to listen to concerns and suggestions for improvement. Most of the campus dedicated to providing top services for students. Benefits decent, salary compensation for experience so-so.
Svantaggi
Was an excellent place to work at, until president (Shibelli) retired. Upper management now has no concept of improving morale. Hired an executive consultant that basically repeated suggestions as their own. "Reorganizations" which "let go" countless people. All hard-working dedicated people who had contributed to the success of the campus for decades. Most people work in fear of not having a job the next day. State funded position salaries not comparable to real world. Salary range not always based on experience but on degree. After seeing the "reorganizations" devastate the campus and our team, I left on my own accord. Was accepted to the first place I applied to with a 15k increase in salary. Everyone raves about my expertise and professionalism, it's nice to be recognized for a change. Friends still working at STCC say it technically took two people to replace me. Shortly after I left, a few other key core people left as well. What does that say?
