Vantaggi
The team at Spry is across-the-board smart, friendly, empathetic, and professional; the leaders are extremely approachable and understanding of everyone's needs. Although the nature of the job requires occasionally working with older code, the dev team is technologically forward-thinking and constantly learning -- you can have a lot of input on the architecture of a project, and you'll have the ability to work in a variety of languages and frameworks. The office is spacious and comfortable, but the company is flexible with remote/work-from-home time. Benefits are good. There are plenty of opportunities for volunteer and community work, and they definitely care about St. Louis and its growth. I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Spry, and would wholeheartedly recommend it as a place to work.
Svantaggi
It is an agency job, so there will be some client interaction (although as a developer, a relatively minimal amount). If you're not interested in talking with clients who may be less technologically-inclined you could find that side difficult. Similarly, your tasks will generally be dictated by client need, which could mean quick movement from project-to-project. I liked that aspect, but if you'd rather focus on one thing for a long period of time it might not be a great fit.
