Not a lot of room for advancement. Cost of benefits keep increasing. Wage increases not even close to the rate of inflation. "That's how it is in Higher Education" is a common phrase.

Thank you for the feedback. We have recently implemented a professional development program for staff at the college to increase an employee's ability to grow and develop in their current role or be prepared to advance to the next one. In terms of the cost of benefits increasing, it is something we struggle with as well every year. We try to keep the cost of benefits to the employee low while also balancing the increasing cost of health care. We do review our benefits committee members on a regular basis to be sure we are being as representative of our college community as we can be. We do currently have a one income individual on the committee but recognize that it may be beneficial to add an additional member with that background in the future. Thank you for your tenure with the college and we hope that you will continue to give constructive feedback to help us do and be the best we can be.
The environment at St Olaf is very Supportive, positive, and friendly.

Unless you were a alumni from St. Olaf College you are always going to be treated like an outsider. Management tends to promote alumni before qualified individuals. HR will try their best to help you but you will realize that they are also at the whims of this strange insider club. When you ask for help you won't get it. There's a wink wink work culture here that you are expected to be working 24/7.
