Vantaggi

No pros. The only thing I've gained from working at this company is appreciation for the jobs I worked at afterwards, as the environment were no where near as toxic

Svantaggi

My short time at the Steve Madden Canada head office was the worst work experience I have ever had. Management is essentially made up of two people who truly could not care less about their employees. The culture is rotten and toxic. In my time with the company, I have both witnessed and experience bullying, rudeness, condescension, threats, name calling, etc. On a daily basis, you will see people yelling at each other, which has often led to people having to leave work in tears, a lot of gossiping amongst employees, employees being pitted against one another, often times by management, etc. There are some employees who have been with the company since its opening of the Canadian location, who started at a young age and aged with the company. They are major contributors to the toxic work environment as they are stuck in their ways, which is probably why the company's culture has not evolved. New comers do not last very long, as they are often scared away in the first couple of months of employment. If you are thinking about accepting an employment offer from this company, I urge you to think about your decision very hard.

Vantaggi

•Great stepping stone into mid-tier fashion retail •Excellent employee discounts (50% and some months 60%) •Get free shoes every season •Easy & straightforward training

Svantaggi

• Favoritism toward certain employees can impact fairness in opportunities and treatment. • Workplace culture can sometimes feel overly focused on pleasing management rather than collaboration. • There have been instances where employees felt they experienced retaliation when management disagreed with how someone operated in their role. • Scheduling flexibility is advertised for employees with second jobs, but in practice there may be pressure to commit to specific opening or closing days. • When concerns are raised, coaching from leadership can be inconsistent, and discussions have at times turned into workplace gossip rather than constructive feedback. • Transparency around promotions and full-time opportunities can be unclear; employees have reported being told no positions were available while listings appeared externally. Management bonus incentives are relatively small (around $250 at most) and may be affected if store labor hours exceed the allotted budget. • Some employees feel discouraged from taking mental health days due to perceived judgment. •They allow misbehavior of code of conduct
