Vantaggi

-The people at the lower levels of the organization are genuinely hardworking and forthright. -Operational staff is passionate about customer service

Svantaggi

Where to begin? -Firstly and most importantly, there is absolutely no, and I mean NO trust in the organization in ANY direction. Senior management does not trust each other or their subordinates and as a result the rest of the company does not trust them. Senior leaders hoard information that you need to do your jobs, in their individual fiefdoms, so that they can look indispensable. -The quality of leadership is very poor and this is only just becoming visible as competition grows and sound decision-making is needed. -StubHub stands as a tangential part of the eBay group. Since the business and the industry are so obscure most persons don't think of us in their job search. As a result, for the most part, we hire 2nd or even 3rd tier individuals. We are all a group of slightly defective toys that could only find employment in a company that had no competition and didn't need to understand or manage itself. -We have no real tangible direction and our recent results have demonstrated this. At the end of last year when we came upon the realization that we operate in a free market and therefore by default there will be competition, we stood in the headlights and smiled a silly grin. Since then we have woken up but only to run around like a schizophrenic crack addict trying this and then that to earn a bit of money to make us pretend that we are happy again. -I won't share our financial results here but needless to say, if we were a publicly traded enterprise, we would have lost half our market value and the board would have insisted that the entire leadership team be gutted. Instead, as another reviewer has pointed out, all that has happened is that the SAME management has been retained and they have thinned the ranks of the hard working people at the bottom. If these leaders were not running the company well before what in the world makes us think that things have miraculously changed and can do any better? Because they promise they have? -As the panic has set in, instead of steadying the ship and making sure that we make the right decisions going forward everyone is trying to prove they are worthwhile and has instructed their staff to do anything and everything to look like we are trying, not to actually try but rather to create the facade of trying. As you can imagine this type of behavior only subtract values and has completely obliterated morale. -Leaders don't genuinely care for the staff, they only say they do look like leaders should and to make sure they stay HR compliant. This lack of genuine interest manifests in actions that completely savage the morale of the rest of the company (not providing resources but still demanding higher results, lying, moving around resources with no real forethought, etc.). I have never met such an emotionally UNintelligent group of leaders. -Decision-making takes forever. If we loose a resource, it can take 3-4 months to back-fill that person. During this time, the fact that the resources that are left have to take up all the slack and work doubly or triply hard is completely ignored by the senior managers in their ivory towers. This again stems from the fact that no one is trusted enough to make a decision. So everyone is too scared to actually stand up for the right things and the result is a group of managers who make decisions based purely on self-preservation and self-aggrandizement, not authentic business theory. -Employee empowerment is one of the CEO’s mantras but it is a COMPLETE and UTTER fallacy. -Goal setting is also a laughable exercise where the approach is completely top-down with no element of reality. If you have the capacity to ask to better understand the underpinnings of the goal so as to better work towards them, no one knows where they came from – an absolute mess! -Lastly, I have had some interaction with our international expansion efforts (Canada/UK/Germany) and this has also proved to a fiasco with inept leadership and a complete lack of cross cultural or competitive awareness. As usual we chose the cheapest path and said lets just do what we do here in the US and it will work, it has to......The terrible leadership conundrum is a natural knock on internationally as well with the same exact level of ineptitude, delusion and shallowness. In that division, the leadership team comprises of almost half of the entire company! What business model could they possibly be following?

Vantaggi

Absolutely nothing- couldn’t recommend not working for a company more than here.

Svantaggi

overall the experience was very inconsistent and frustrating. Management tends to pick favorites, and policy enforcement is selective rather than fair. Some employees are held strictly accountable while others receive warnings for similar situations, which creates a lack of trust in leadership and contributes to high turnover and loss of strong performers. HR decisions can feel abrupt and, in some cases, extreme, including situations where serious accusations were made without proper verification or follow-up. There is also no sick pay, and attendance is tracked through a strict points system that feels punitive and unclear, with termination happening once a threshold is reached. Overall leadership often lacks alignment, and agents are frequently blamed when issues are escalated. Even long tenure is treated as unusual rather than standard, which says a lot about the culture.
