Vantaggi

The rubber meets the road employees that are determined to make lemonade out of lemons.

Svantaggi

I have refrained from commenting on my past experience at Study Group despite the overwhelming evidence on Glassdoor that the company is an unfit work environment for any decent, hard working, intelligent professional. However, it appears that some in the company have finally taken note that their reputation as an organization is plummeting. The more recent positive reviews appear to be nothing more than a response to the overwhelmingly negative reviews that have been written on this site for a number of years. To be sure, sites like Glassdoor do not always fully encapsulate the experience of an employee base. It stands to reason that disgruntled employees are more likely to vent their displeasure over those that are thriving. While this may be true in general, Study Group is an exception to the rule. I cannot speak to the environment of the offices in the UK or Australia (the latter of which appears to be the most soundly run), but the North American branch is a complete disaster. The company routinely expands and then cuts jobs without a clear path towards how to complete necessary business duties. Employees have been let go and then asked to come back to train temporary employees or do their former jobs on a temporary basis after it becomes apparent that the office cannot function with a skeleton crew that the Corporate team in the UK envisions. If this is not an indicator of poor management at the expense of humiliating the staff, I'm not sure what is. Employees are sold a dream at the onset and are on-boarded to find they have bought a lemon. Beyond that, they are asked to suck on it until they're left with nothing but bitterness. There are plenty of talented employees coming through the doors at Study Group. Those suggesting that the vast majority of bad reviews are coming from individuals that 'can't hack it' should wonder why so many ill-prepared and under-skilled employees are being hired in the first place. It speaks to the management teams, beginning and ending with the executive leadership, that they apparently cannot hire fit administrators (or executives, where the turnover rate is extraordinary) to do standard office work without running for the hills. It was my experience that those employees that kept their heads down and mouths closed were more likely to last longer than anyone willing to point out the overall mismanagement of budgets and resources. Professional men and women have come to Study Group with stellar working reputations and resumes and have left feeling defeated and despondent. Men and women that have never failed at anything in their lives are turned into failures at a company that cannot accept it's shortcomings go further than a few bad apples. As a whole, the company has been mismanaged several times over with no end in sight.
