Given the nature of the industry, Procurement specifically in Superdrug is more governance focused rather than “buying” which can feel quite one dimensional for procurement professionals. No basic procurement IT systems in place which leads to people spending time checking each other’s work or quite open to human error. A lot of manual processes which makes “procurement governance” very admin heavy which eventually makes the job quite mundane quickly. Procurement here does feel like a checklist activity rather than an integral pillar to a company’s growth and strategy. Salaries are on the lower side compared to other procurement roles in the market. Good role to start off if you’re new or few years into the job market but it’s not sustainable unless you see a clear growth opportunities.
